One of the most reverberated pilgrimage tours in India, the famous Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand attracts millions of tourists every year, from the very auspicious months of May to the month of November. Chardham Yatra that symbolically means a visit to four sacred abodes of Hindu Gods namely Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are the most believed touring places in Uttarakhand for the worldwide tourists and for the Hindu devotees. Initialized by Adi Shankaracharya, Chardham Yatra pilgrimage, today receives tremendous responses with thronging of great pilgrims from across the nation.

Making a very sacred start from the holy city of Haridwar where the devotees take a sacred dip into the mighty Ganges and make a very good move towards Uttarkashi to catch the mighty glimpses of both the major riverine Goddesses namely Yamunotri and Gangotri. Interestingly, heading towards Uttarkashi means- finding the most suitable glaciers of these two famous rivers of India- the Ganges and the Yamuna at Gangotri-Goumukh glacier and Yamunotri glacier; respectively. Where the divine idols of these Goddesses can be seen at their respective temples at Gangotri temple and Yamunotri temple; followed by making sacred dips in the rivers. And then the voyage leads to Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district to pay a visit to Lord Shiva’s one of the twelve forms of jyotirlingas. The Kedarnath temple has great significance where the devotees receive blessings of the almighty and get privileged. The devotees can also find Lord Shiva’s other divine forms at different temples at different locations in the name of Panch Kedar.

Further, the most important visit to Lord Badrinarayan in Chamoli district completes this pilgrimage tour in a more majestic way where a one-meter statue of Lord Vishnu in the meditative form made of Shaligram stone attracts everyone. The ambiance of the Badrinath Temple impresses everyone in anyways and inspires people for the sake of mankind. Most importantly, this place is also greatly significant for Chardham yatra in India, being also its essential part. The Panch Badri in this district is also an important ingredient of the Chardham tour where different forms of Lord Badri-Narayan can be seen at different places.
